FIRE PUMPS

  • Fire Pumps are an integral component of many fire sprinkler systems.

Fire Pumps are used to increase the pressure of a water supply when that water supply does not have sufficient pressure to meet the demands of the system.

There are two main types of Fire Pumps- Positive Displacement Pumps and Centrifugal Pumps. Positive Displacement Pumps are less common and are primarily used with foam-water and water mist systems.

Centrifugal Pumps are the most common and used in most systems. There are five primary types of Centrifugal Pumps:

    • Horizontal Split-Case Fire Pump

    • Vertical Turbine Fire Pump

    • In-Line Fire Pump

    • End Suction Fire Pump

    • Multistage Multiport Fire Pump

  • Fire Pumps are most commonly found in buildings that have a high pressure demand such as high-rise buildings and large warehouses.
