FOAM SYSTEMS
-
Fire Suppression Foam is made up of water, concrete and air. When mixed properly, these components form a foam blanket that is highly effective in separating the fuel source from the product surface, creating a barrier for vapors and smothering the fire.
There are three standard types of Fire Suppression Foam- Low, Medium and High Density Foam. These types of foam are categorized by Foam Expansion Rate.
Foam Expansion Rate is the volume of foam actually produced divided by solution of foam used to create the amount of foam actually produced.
For example, a 2 to 1 Foam Expansion Ratio would mean that one gallon of Foam Solution produced two gallons of Finished Foam.
Low Expansion Foam: Between 2 to 1 and 20 to 1 Foam Expansion Ratio
Medium Expansion Foam: Between 20 to 1 and 200 to 1 Expansion Ratio
Large Expansion Foam: Above 200 to 1 Expansion Ratio
